My Childhood Is Slowly Being Killed

June 27th 2009 00:29
I do, and always will watch Cartoon Network. I love cartoons, I especially love picking out subtle adult themes and innuendos in cartoons. I figure the creators do this to give a nod or a wink to older viewers. IT MAKES WATCHING CARTOONS FUN!

But recently, I've noticed something strange going on The Cartoon Network. The addition of live action shows, in a block they call "CN Real". They currently have three shows, a game show that has contestants answering questions on a roller coaster for cash money. The second is a show reminiscent of Junk Yard Wars where players build devices out of scrap and then the other team tries to blow it up. And lastly, they have a ghost hunting show with kids.

I absolutely refuse, REFUSE, to watch these shows and give them ratings. Cartoon Network is for cartoons, not shows about poorly disguise child abuse (I'm lookin' at you ghost hunting show).

Cartoon Network is a TCP/IP link for Cartoons. (get it? network? heh heh). Nothing else, I think them doing live action kids movies is pushing it, but damn these shows just piss me off. I want to see Flapjack and Chowder and Batman not some girl on a roller coaster who's "Things she likes to do" are "Draw Manga, its like Japanese cartoons.". Please shudder with me on the thought of this.

I know that Adult Swim has been doing live action shows for a while now, but its a different network in my opinion. Its Adult Swim, not Cartoon Network. I got to adult swim for curse words blood and Tim & Eric.

So please please please, anyone who reads this and enjoys cartoons. Turn off the TV, turn off the cable box or just change the channel when these bastardizations of my childhood come on.

I agree. I've noticed this trend myself. It started with Ace Ventura: Pet Detective being shown as a featured movie on there long ago. That wasn't a cartoon dammit!

Hopefully they don't kill the channel completely! I have 4 kids so watch a lot of it haha.
