Music Industry Wants Royalties From iTunes 30 Second Samples or; WHY PIRACY IS NOW COMPLETELY FAIR!
September 28th 2009 04:59
According to my buds over at Gizmodo music royalty groups ASCAP and BMI are asking online music stores to pay up PERFORMANCE fees on, wait for it, wait for it, 30 second samples and any purchased videos.
Now, the intelligent folk I shall give respite toward, because your face should be face down in the deep depths of your keyboard. Just a few more moments.
Now just to clarify, whenever you go on iTunes or the Zune store and want to browse and pick and choose what you want to actually spend cash money on, they are going to charge you. This is as if you went to Borders and they have a cover charge (cue rim shot! did realize that was a joke until the proof read)!
Honestly, how can the music industry be so naive when it comes to how it should treat its customers.
Now, these two organizations don't get money from tracks or albums sold only performances, so you cant be too hard on them for trying to get some coinage from online music sales but to be so incredibly out of the loop to try and charge for PREVIEWS is re-god damned diculous.
If anyone agrees to their requests I will be completely changed on my opinions on piracy and its 100% necessary.
