A Gentlemans Pipe...

...Must Stay Clean. Yesterday i showed you how to pack your pipe for enjoyment. Today ill show you how to do a decent after smoke cleaning.
First off, when you are all done smoking and are ready to put the pipe up stamp your tobacco out. Stamp it down nice and tight. Spin your Czech tool around and make sure the entire bowl's worth of tobacco is nice and out.
Once its tamped down really tight, put the palm of your hand over the opening of the bowl and shake the pipe. Shake it good. Shake it like a Polaroid. Now take your hand off and the loose ashes should now be clinging to the interior parts of the pipe, the parts that were once wet from tobacco juices. This helps bring an even cake to the inside of your bowl so you don't get any hot spots.
Now let it sit...put it down...leave it alone. You just want to put it down and let it cool down. Cleaning or scraping or taking it apart while its hot can crack the various bits of the pipe.
Once things are nice and cool, at least 20 minutes left alone grab the pipe like this.
Only grab it by the bowl end when tapping the tobacco. If you hold it by the stem it might break off.
Once all the loose stuff is out take your check tool and go in there and scrape out any stuck pieces.
After its nice and cleaned out take a smooth pipe cleaner and clean the entrance to the bowl like this.
Brush it back and forward like you're sweeping a chimney. You are allowed to use both ends of the pipe cleaner.
Then bend it in half like this
And spin it inside the bowl to clean the edges.
Lastly clean your steam with a fresh pipe cleaner.
Run it through the stem a few times to get any juices.
Now put the thing back together and its ready for another smoke. If you keep your pipes clean like this after every smoke they will return the favor by smoking nice and smooth for you.
PRO TIP: You can smoke your pipe everyday if you want, but try and give it a day or two off to rest and let the pores close on the wood.
Again comment with questions or comments. Thanks For Reading SON!
